The name “Former Prophets” derives from Jewish tradition and serves in the Hebrew Bible as the designation for the Books of Joshua, Judges, 1–2 Samuel, and 1–2 Kings. The designation is significant. It refers to the prophetic narratives in the Books of Kings and to others which fit the image of the prophets of Jewish tradition. [1] The Hebrew Bible: Feminist and Intersectional Perspectives offers a feminist introduction to the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament. The book consists of an introduction (written by editor Gale A. Yee) followed by four chapters, each addressing a different section of the biblical text and written by a different contributor or contributors.

Abstract. One of the obvious ways in which the biblical text understands the city is through the conceptual metaphor the city is a chapter focuses on the process of construing the city/woman and on her functionality within the reading process. A Feminist Companion to Genesis, for example, has nine articles on the creation narratives. Diversity is also acknowledged in the inclusion of articles in which authors re¯ect on other articles within the same volume. A Feminist Companion to the Latter Prophets, for example, includes a reprint of Fontaine's article.
